I love this #photobyraykenny taken in the Kofa NWR, AZ. The jagged peaks from volcanic eruptions & flows are unworldly. This is a great place to hike, camp & explore. There are 2 trails, 1 to see the the California fan palms & 1 to the top of Signal Mtn. www.arizonahighways.com/kofa-nationa...

Some photos from the #Mojave and #Sonoran deserts a couple Februaries ago. My wife caught Valley Fever out there and was laid out for 3 months afterwards with flesh-eating fungus in her lungs. We watched "The Last of Us" while she recovered. 😵 More pics: www.mountainphotography.com/gallery/febr...

Had to go back a way to find this one. This is Kofa. 🐾 He was with us for about 16 years. We used to name our dogs for Arizona place names. He was named for the “King of Arizona Mine” in the Kofa Mts. Spent many weeks with me backpacking and camping around the SW. #throwbackthursday #dogsofbluesky

One more for #RockinTuesday - the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge in SW Arizona is lesser known and visited than their national parks and monuments, and often hot, but has spectacular desert landscapes. Great to visit in cooler months.
