#KWHS
Trump’s fossil-fuel stooges claim that 9-cent KWhs from offshore wind will raise prices on a grid averaging 18-cents/KWh. Anything to prop up natural gas.

Rough comparison: A single Bitcoin transaction requires hundreds of kWhs. A single prompt on ChatGPT uses roughly .003 kWhs. In total Bitcoin consumes 200 TWh/yr and emits 114 million tons of CO2. ChatGPT consumes 25 TWh and emits around 2 million tons.
Just a reminder that Bitcoin still sucks and has a gargantuan and growing climate footprint.

Decided to calculate a cumulative daily total of the amount of $$$ I've spent on energy this year with my new solar (blue), compared to the amount of money those KwHs would have cost without solar (orange). 42% saved so far. More sun + sweet summer excess generation rates gonna explode that number ☀️

Of course they have! My rooftop solar averages about 750 kwhs per month. I haven't spent more than $260 annually for power in 6 years.

look at all that shade and electricity and kWhs

Wind and solar estimated to hit 20% next year

Nuclear at 18-19%, hydro at 6-7%, we’re getting close to 50% clean kWhs.
Do you like charts? Oh yes you do. I've just published hundreds of them, as I do every year. www.nathanielbullard.com/presentations

Stunning results when a school put 3,300 solar panels on their rooftop:

— save $2.8 million over the next 25 years
— created vocational on-site training & an education program on solar for students
— cut their emissions by 41,583 tons of CO2
— generated 54 million kWhs of clean energy

hey friends! we're doing a fundraiser in the lead up to the local shelter's big pool party for dogs! consider donating to help the bowtie brigade raise funds for shelter animals?

ps: this is the same shelter where we got gideon 💖

The Bowtie Brigade
Join Gideon, Zero, and Binky in helping us raise funds for the KWHS and help pets like Gideon (in the orange bowtie), who is KWHS alumni. Without KWHS Gideon wouldn't have found his furever home and o...

What will lower energy bills is getting Revolution Wind up and operating, delivering 9.9 cent/kWhs into an 18 cent/kwh grid. Trump is messing with that to keep us buying higher-cost power from his big fossil-fuel-buddy donors.
McKee's plan to lower energy bills comes at the cost of climate goals
McKee's energy and climate policies are at odds, specifically around a proposal to help lower utility bills.

How many kWhs of electricity did those simulations take?

Are we now paying $3 in higher electric rates for them to tell us how to save $0.50 on one meal?

I want LiveCodeBench but showing how many tokens/€s/KWhs it takes to get to 100%. Not interested in scores less than 100%.

Mine in Florida is 34. All of it is taxes and fees for the privilege of being connected. I pay for no actual Kwhs.

Injecting the kWhs right into my fucking eyeball.
December 9, 2024 at 3:38 AM
My math for getting bills down 20% by 2030: cut investment by 50% (squeeze more from assets we've already paid for — grid-enhancing tech, advanced conductors, connect-and-manage) + bigger denominator (sell more kWhs). That's it. It's not that hard.
May 2, 2026 at 2:48 PM
Actually, I’d do it anyway and just pump the extra kWhs into the system to offset my gas usage.

Absolute 🐂💩 from AGL, effectively lowering the charge per KWH but charging double for every KWH after 379 KWHs used
😡
Just thieving rouges!

Speaking of batteries - LONGi Solar - one of the world’s largest manufacturers of solar panels is getting into energy storage to enable themselves to offer a platform to developers that creates value, versus just daytime kWhs.

Depends on the current heating solution. For example electric resistance heat delivers 1 kWh of heat for every 1 kWh of electricity. A heat pump can average over 3 kWh of heat for every 1 kWh of electricity. It can do the same when running in cooling mode and you need more kWhs of heat than of cool.

Today in All kWhs are not created equal
If you think renewables can do it cheaper then fine make the RFP procurement and get the necessary support on the system BEFORE you allow that much renewable dispatch.

All three projects to sell 100% of kWhs to utility via SMART program.

I don't mean to put Simon on blast here, but having gone through these numbers more carefully, I think it illustrates a problem with a lot of LLM defenses: this is comparing the cost of the chips themselves processing a query to *the end to end transmission of streaming video*, including your TV.

Getting close to turning on our 104 kWdc/72 kWac + 64 kWh battery in Providence. The project's battery will be used to capture potentially clipped kWhs, as well part of Rhode Island Energy's Connected Solutions peaking program that uses distributed batteries to shave demand peaks.
