announced that I was giving up men & devoting myself to cats. If only I had built an altar to Kamadeva. His arrows would have come in mighty handy. My cats never cuddle.

To dodge Shiva's guardians, Kama took on the form of a sweet scented breeze. He phased through the house and reached Shiva's place of meditation atop Mount Kailash. Using his magical powers, Kamadeva created an unnatural spring, with birds chirping and flowers blossoming.

Direct hit! Shiva's heart is opened momentarily, enough to stir emotions and desire for Parvati. Quickly, the lord regains control of his emotions and opens his eyes, enraged at being disrupted. Seeing Kamadeva, Shiva opened his third eye and, as mentioned, evaporated the god of love.

In the story of Parvati, it is foretold that the child of Shiva will be a killer of demons and destroyer of evil. The gods are therefore incentivized to make the God of bachelors and celibates to be interested in anyone at all. They send Kamadeva, the God of love to Shiva.
