When the Tariff Hurts More Than the Nib Delivers
Hit with a surprise 35% tariff ($24.30 on $70) for a Kanwrite titanium "flex" nib, only to find it too stiff to yield practical flex. I quickly swapped back to my reliable JoWo #6 Smooth Cursive Itali...

The Jowo thread compatible Kanwrite Titanium "flex" nib arrived today. I'm disappointed. It's not a terrible nib, but to get even a smidgen of flex takes far too much pressure to be practical. An FPR EF Ultra Flex is superior. And of course neither comes anywhere close to my MAG650.

Fountain pen of the day:
Although recently I finished sharing my collection, one of the good things is that there’s space for growth. My last addition is a Kanwrite Emperor, an economical flex nib from India. It’s a good looking piece with a really good nib, even if it’s a little on the heavy side.

I’ve tuned nibs from Pelikan, Pilot, and Sailor that cost more than a mortgage payment, yet the pen that’s spent the most time on my bench lately comes from a factory in Vapi, Gujarat. **Kanwrite…

There are at least three startups in India bringing back FP and nib manufacturing:
Rangur, Kanwrite, and Fountain Pen Revolution. They are getting worldwide attention (in their niche of course).

It varies.
I love Ranga pens. They are in the $85-140 USD, and are good artisanal pieces. Fountain Pen Revolution has lesser quality control and mine works well, but isn’t as good. I have a couple Kanwrite that are good and cheap. I’m very curious about Magna Carta, Vazir and Lotus.

From India, this is the Kanwrite Steelex, a slim pen in steel with golden or black trims and a flex nib, with an ebonite feed. It’s a good model. It’s funny when other brands brag about ebonite as an exotic material, when Indian brands do so many affordable pens with it.

Planning out better demo doodles would be ideal for all these water brush hacks. I'm actually unsure about the flat-feed type bodies for this, unfortunately. It's a bit more of a hassle to fill the feed versus picking up a nib & feed combo from Kanwrite or FPR, blah blah

took about a year for my one pen that did this (Kanwrite Odyssey) to stop stinking
might be similar, I've read they're the OEM for Noodlers pens/nibs (as well as for Fountain Pen Revolution)

Kanwrite [Ti] nib is pretty good 🥰 picked up the EEEF ultra-flex variant, and it's just... well. The purchase was definitely worth it. It gives some of these "vintage" nibs a run for its money as far as line variation goes.
It'll be good to fuck some sketches up with this nib 🙈

I use mine for writing, but perhaps something with line variation?
From some Indian pens with flex nibs, like Ranga, Fountain Pen Revolution or Kanwrite, to Conklin, Pilot Falcon, or even a Hongdian with a long blade nib.
