From 1806 the sweet, christened 'gyōja mochi', was sold on the day before the Gion Matsuri's first parade.

Sales have been disrupted only twice in Kashiwaya Mitsusada's (柏屋光貞) history...during WWII and during the more recent pandemic.

I really like these panels in the new Akane-banashi chapter. How the movements, shadows and even the stripes on Kashiwaya's kimono help add to the illusion of him eating noodles.
Kashiwaya bites into his fan, pretending to break off chopsticks. He then holds it like chopsticks and moves it upwards, creating speed lines in the process. Kashiwaya moves his fan further up, towards his mouth. The fan creates a thick, blank line as it is moved upward. Kashiwaya his holding the fan almost directly to his mouth and making slurping sounds, pretending to eat noodles. The shadow lines are slightly curved, moving towards the bottom right.

In early August, when the Gion Matsuri is over and the city is again quiet, representatives of Kashiwaya Mitsusada travel to sacred Mount Ōmine (大峰山) to give thanks for another successful year.

If you managed to get your hands on a gyōja mochi we hope it brings good health!✨
Gion Matsuri ends in quiet fashion at the very end of July. People pray at a small shrine in the grounds of Yasaka-jinja dedicated to one of ancient gods said to protect against disease.

家紋じゃないですが、今となっては珍しい屋号の瓦があったので撮りました。
犬山にあった旧磯部邸。屋号は柏屋だったみたい。

うちの祖母の家は「やまや」だったらしい。理由は不明。
The former Isobe family residence faces Honmachi-dori, a major road leading from the Ote-mon Gate of Inuyama Castle to Nagoya, and had been a kimono merchant under the store name of "Kashiwaya" since the Edo period.Later, after changing to tea manufacturing and sales, the family moved their base of operations elsewhere, and the building was used as a warehouse for merchandise. In 2004, the Isobe family donated the building to the city for preservation and maintenance work as a municipal facility. The building consists of five structures: the main building, back room, storehouse, back storehouse, and exhibition storehouse, all of which are registered as Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan.

There is the Shibahama story that her dad performed in Ch1 that lead to his expulsion. There going to be a lot of drama in that.
Also the 3rd secret story that was hint to be something from Kashiwaya (Rokuro is trying to take that back). Again, drama with Kashiwaya.

It was good of Akane-banashi to give its rakugoka distinctive eye features so characters are easily identifiable during the flashback.

二子玉川のユニクロが移転中なので、キャロットタワーに寄って極暖ヒートテックを追加購入。
ついでに世田谷線改札前にあるかしわやで今川焼を買って帰りました。

こちら、立ち食いそばのお店なんですけど、なせか小窓の受付で今川焼を売っています。
そして、この今川焼が「食べログ 和菓子・甘味処 TOKYO 百名店 2023」に選ばれているんです。

普通の今川焼より分厚い。
あんこたっぷじゃなくて、生地が厚めでフカフカした食感なのが良いんですよね。

I love how the ink style is used to show how raw the performance is
