In Gujarat's Kavitha Village, 8 women built a daal mill from scratch — beating voltage issues & months of training to process 7,000-8,000kg of pulses/year. 🌾

All sold directly via SEWA Rudi. No middlemen. Advance payments for farmers.

Lady got it right: “The problem isn’t that we women can’t take a joke. It’s that violence against women isn’t one, and we have reason to be wary around those who think it is.”

Thanks Kavitha. As a woman in a male dominated industry (engineering/construction PM) these words ring true in many spaces

I wrote about Arch Manning, Holly Rowe, and why many of us aren't laughing.

In short: Men in sports are scaring the hoes.

Satire needs context. Political criticism needs context. A protest video needs context. A journalist's post needs context.

An automated system does not provide that context. It provides efficiency and speed in removals, replacing due process, writes Kavitha Iyer

The author must have loved writing this line:

Hitler had a very poor view of Indian “nationalists. As could be predicted for a Nazi, he did not believe in independence for India or indeed for any colonised peoples”

The State identifies a post as offensive.
An order is sent.
An automated system processes it.
The post disappears.

What was once a notice followed by due process is increasingly becoming an automated pipeline to identify, instruct and remove, writes Kavitha Iyer

Social media posts can now disappear within three hours of a government takedown order, normalising the vanishing of posts. Kavitha Iyer on what happens when a system designed to deal with exceptional harms becomes the ordinary machinery of online censorship

Vanishing social posts are now normal. Takedowns without explanation, so rapid they cannot be meaningfully challenged. As censorship loses legal safeguards, #India has only the restraint of those operating the censorship machine, writes Kavitha Iyer
