The Kewanee City Council unanimously approved a special-use permit for Enpower Solutions to install a 5-megawatt, ballast-mounted solar array at 101 Franklin Street. Enpower said the project would include EPA-directed site cleanup, local hiring where possible, estimated 8 6% customer bill relief, and could be operational in roughly two years, subject to permitting and utility approvals.

The Kewanee City Council approved changes to the city's large-solar permitting rules and granted a special-use permit to Indigo Solar, LLC with amended stipulations; the project includes a $25,000 donation to the Police Department's DAART program and allows a local institution to use 40% of production.
