I'm old enough that when I was really little, you'd get actual keys to hotel rooms, and when I was in elementary school, the keycards felt new and fancy 😮💨

It's exclusively a problem for 2nd/3rd party companies that do not want to spend the time or money making physical versions of the game. Especially when its on a non-standard hardware like the Switch's cartridges that may retract on storage space. I don't like the keycards either but it's how it is.

Nintendo allowing that technology on their platform, however, has enabled every publisher to take the easy route and just make their games keycards. I see very few switch 2 games outside of Nintendo that aren't keycards.

Oye de verdad que hay gente defendiendo a Nintendo y Square con el uso de keycards como si fueran sus abogados. Serán los mismos que defendían el gamepass, el pago de DLCs o pagar por el online.

Nintendo hizo las keycards porque los desarrolladores externos decian que si no no pagarían por usar cartuchos y directamente no lanzarían en switch 2. Usar o no keycard es decisión de cada desarrolladora, y nintendo de momento lanza todos sus juegos sin keycard.

It was, after all, one of the hard to ignore points of the digital devoted over the physical fans. Keycards lack that convenience as well as the security of a full on card game. It is a flawed half measure just to appease you resellers. Giving you some false feelings of “ownership”.
