The image was taken by Rehmann in the Tivoli Southern Sky Guest Farm, Khomas, Namibia on 25 December 2021. The photo depicts (and is named for) a disconnection event, when a portion of the dust tail is separated from the nucleus by a burst of solar wind.

PRE-PRIMARY TEACHERS SHOWCASE CREATIVITY IN WINDHOEK - nbc
Across Namibia, pre-primary teachers have been finding creative ways to make learning more colourful, practical and fun for young learners. The creativity was on display in Windhoek, where teachers competed in the |Khomas Region Pre-Primary Material Development Competition. Namibia's pre-primary teachers are turning classrooms into colourful and interactive learning spaces, putting the country's education motto "Foundation First, Excellence Always" into practice. Thirty-three teachers from government schools competed in a teaching and learning materials competition, showcasing creative tools designed to make lessons more engaging for the little ones. The materials ranged from colourful learning aids to practical resources that help children grasp concepts through play and interaction. Teachers were challenged to move beyond traditional lesson preparation and find innovative ways to bring learning to life in the classroom. The entries were assessed by teacher trainers and senior education officials, focusing on creativity, classroom application and alignment with the curriculum. Chief Education Officer Hoster Simasiku explained. “This ultimately serves to strengthen the foundation of education. Our motto for this year encapsulates this aim: 'Foundation First, Excellence Always.'” The initiative promotes the development of practical teaching resources as part of strengthening the foundation of early learning. Teachers were also encouraged to look beyond commercially produced resources and make use of materials available in their own communities. Otjimuise Primary School teacher Karina Aron emerged as the overall winner. “Let me just say that this recognition is not only for Otjimuise but for all pre-primary teachers. We often face challenges, including the notion that there isn’t enough funding. However, we have a wealth of materials in our community that can aid us in developing educational resources.” Olof Palme Primary School Platoon placed second, while Khomasdal Primary School took third place. Best Material and Creativity Winner from the Eros Primary School Elmagda Becker shared her experience. “And yes, we are all winners; we should just use what's at our disposal and be creative.” Hillside Primary School took second place, with Moses ǁGaroëb Primary School third in the Best Material and Creativity category. The competition brought together educators from different parts of |Khomas. The initiative aims to encourage teachers to develop creative, contextualised learning materials that strengthen the foundation of education.

AGRICULTURE CAN TRANSFORM YOUNG NAMIBIANS’ LIVES - nbc
Agriculture has the potential to change the lives of young Namibians. This was the message by the Director of Youth Development Nicolars Tembwe at the official opening of the Youth Agriculture Cooperatives Workshop held in Keetmanshoop. Twenty-five participants from the ||Kharas, Kunene, Otjozonjupa, Erongo, Khomas, Omaheke and Hardap regions participated in the workshop. The training focuses on business plan development for youth agricultural cooperatives. It aims to assist participants securing funding for their cooperatives. Tembwe indicated the training initiative is aligned with the direction contained in the SWAPO Party Manifesto Implementation Plan and NDP6. It further promotes the establishment of at least one youth agriculture co-operative in each of the country's fourteen regions. "Youth Agriculture Co-operatives can contribute significantly to employment creation, income generation, food security, poverty reduction , skills development and local economic development. The Knowledge that you are gaining here today on business plan development is an important skill that you can use beyond this particular cooperative." Tembwe further urged Youth officers to continue supporting young people in finalising their business plans even after the training concludes. One of the Participants Ronny Visser has thanked the leadership for creating this opportunity on behalf of the participants. "I want to thank our leaders for making this opportunity for us and secondly I want to thank the most important people here, the youth for coming first of all and in short I would just like to say let us worked together and make our people proud." The workshop is scheduled to run until Friday and is facilitated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform.
