At the NAB show Kinefinity is displaying the new Vista Full Frame Cine camera. It has it’s own mount but there is an E-mount autofocus adapter included! One of the highlights from NAB in Las Vegas the other month was the introduction of the new Vista 6K digital cinema camera from Kinefinity. It was kind of a throwback, since the company didn't do much promotion for the new camera before debuting it on the conference floor, so there was a buzz in the air as conference-goers spread the word about this mysterious new camera. Well, the mystery is over: the company has fully revealed the Kinefinity Vista, with complete specs, features, and a price point, as it’s now available for preorder. And, to be honest, it’s quite intriguing as a compact, full-frame cinema camera capable of 6K50 video and UHD 4K120 in Super 35. It’s also quite affordable, with a base price already discounted to put it in the rare sub-$2,000 cinema camera range. So, without further ado, here’s what you need to know. * * * ### The New Kinefinity Vista Designed with a compact form factor and an aggressive price point, the Kinemount VISTA Full-Frame 6K Digital Cinema Camera from Kinefinity is powered by a full-frame 6K CMOS image sensor that is designed to support up to 14 stops of dynamic range. It will be able to record at up to 6K50 frame rates in full frame and up to UHD 4K120 in Super 35. It will also feature an integrated flip-out 4” OLED touchscreen that we got to check out in person at NAB that’s quite solid and nimble and features assignable buttons, an OLPF filter, and flexible media options. The camera will also feature an integrated OLPF (optical low-pass filter) with UV and IR cut filters to block unwanted wavelengths, adding more shooting flexibility to your projects. ### Flexible Recording Modes and Options One of the main marketing points for the VISTA is its flexibility for those looking to handle a wide range of projects. The VISTA FF 6K is set to include a built-in 220GB SSD, a single CFexpress Type B card slot, and support for dual recording using these two options. As far as recording options go, the camera will support ProRes 422 HQ up to 6K50 and UHD 4K120 for capturing a nice blend of fast- and slow-motion sequences. The camera will also boast sophisticated color science, including KineLOG3, built-in Rec. 709, and neutral LUTs. Also of note, the VISTA FF will come with an interchangeable Kinemount that shooters can use to swap out for separately available ARRI PL and Sony E lens mounts, which should give shooters more flexibility with different cine-style lenses. ### Price and Availability As mentioned above, the VISTA has an aggressive price point at launch for a cinema camera of its caliber, as it’s already on a discount, dropping its opening retail price to just under $2,000.
