Toraya's (とらや) 'kurikomochi' (栗粉)✨

A Japanese proverb goes "peaches and chestnuts after three years, persimmons after eight" (桃栗三年柿八年)...
It is similar to the English phrases "a watched pot never boils", "patience is a virtue" or "mighty oaks from little acorns grow".

From mid-April 'tsutsuji kinton' (つつじきんとん) are served in the tearoom. These sweets either mimic small round azalea bushes, or flowers growing out of rock crevices ('iwane-tsutsuji' 岩根つつじ 'azalea rooted amongst rocks').

The characters for confectionery/sweets '菓子' (kashi) were also a homonym for '下賜' (kashi), which meant the giving of something to a person of lower social standing than you.

This act of giving sweets reaffirmed hierarchical ties and subservience to the shōgunate.

Welson Kinton V3
The Welson Kinton V3 is an oddly lumpy take on a Strat-style electric. Its finish is made of sparkly gold blocks on a black background. It's got three single-coil pickups, volume and tone controls that are roller dials instead of knobs, and individual buttons for each pickup combination (All, treble, bass & treble, middle, bass, and off). Its trem looks similar to a Jaguar's. The Welson logo is on the pickguard, but they probably had space to put it on the bulbous 4/2 split headstock with room to spare.

Rice planting season has begun and the green kinton 'aota' (青田) conjures to mind the lush fields during the summer months.

Kinton (金団) are small balls of sweet bean paste covered in a colourful, shredded type of dough (commonly made from yam).
