One thing that is becoming exceedingly clear during #Klebsiella2024: this is now the social media platform for scientists, not X.

First step of a long journey home from #Klebs2024 #Klebsiella2024. It has been an incredibly productive few days personally, and more widely the conference has been a great success brining together scientists studying Kpn for the first time

Very much enjoying #Klebsiella2024 with great talks.

Some absolutely shocking data around AMR and mortality in neonatal infections in LMICs, which do not have access to new (and very few) drugs that still work.

Some great science at #Klebsiella2024 has been sadly undersold because of the use of tiny fonts on slides and figures.

Remember to always use font sizes larger than ~20 on all your slides.

Use tables sparingly, they are difficult to interpret by the audience.

Apologies for being a bit grumpy.

This morning #Klebsiella2024 @olayarendueles.bsky.social is presenting work on the interactions between capsule, fitness and Horizontal Gene Transfer in Klebsiella pneumoniae. Great story, some of it published journals.plos.org/plosbiology/...
Interplay between the cell envelope and mobile genetic elements shapes gene flow in populations of the nosocomial pathogen Klebsiella pneumoniae
A study of how the complex interaction between capsules and mobile genetic elements shapes gene flow in populations of Klebsiella pneumoniae reveals that capsule inactivation by phage pressure facilit...

A genome-wide One Health study of Klebsiella pneumoniae in Norway reveals overlapping populations but few recent transmission events across reservoirs
Members of the Klebsiella pneumoniae species complex (KpSC) are opportunistic pathogens that cause severe and difficult-to-treat infections. KpSC are common in non-human niches, but the clinical relev...
