Ukraine’s Territorial Recruitment Centers (TCCs) have become places of illegal detention, torture, and cover‑ups. Ombudsman Lubinets and his representative Kryuchkov exposed the truth – but instead of justice, whistleblowers are retaliated against, and perpetrators remain unpunished.

Andrii Kriuchkov Calls for a Large-Scale Review of Recruitment Centers in Zakarpattia
Andriy Kryuchkov stated that a large-scale review of the activities of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (TCCs and SPs) in Zakarpattia Oblast is necessary. According to him, after officials are detained or notified of suspicions regarding possible violations identified during monitoring visits, instead of responding to the facts, information attacks are launched against the Office of the Ombudsman, him personally, and regional representatives. When the truth becomes inconvenient, attacks begin against the person who made it public. – Andriy Kryuchkov Information attacks following inspections Kryuchkov noted that over the past week, people he referred to as “activists” had simultaneously become more active in several regions. They began publicly defending certain TCC and SP employees and questioning the results of monitoring visits. According to him, the situation in Zakarpattia raises the most questions. He has been speaking about problems in the region since 2023, when the head of the Zakarpattia Regional TCC and SP was appointed. During this period, inspections allegedly repeatedly documented corruption risks and human rights violations. Instead of providing a proper legal assessment of the facts identified, Andriy Kryuchkov claims that a campaign to discredit the work of the monitoring group was launched. Ukrainian maritime drone attack sparks fire at Yalta coastal restaurants
On August 7, Ukrainian unmanned boats targeted Yalta, sparking a fire at a building along the coast, according to footage published by monitoring Telegram channels following the strike. Oleg Kryuchkov, an adviser to the head of Russian-annexed Crimea, stated that at least one drone boat did not detonate and urged residents to leave the Primorsky Park area while demining operations were underway. No official casualties have been reported by authorities. The Telegram channel Crimean Wind reports , citing accounts from local residents on social media, the fire engulfed the Hungry Bird restaurant on Yalta's popular seaside promenade. The channel suggested that high-ranking military personnel may have been inside the venue at the time of the attack. OSINT blogger LayBay, after analyzing available video, concluded that the establishment burning was not Hungry Bird but a business located in the neighboring building. An investigation by Mediazona confirmed that over 20 organizations are registered at that address, most of them restaurants. Ukraine’s military intelligence agency, the GUR, later confirmed the strike. According to the agency, special unit "Group 13" conducted a "parade" of Magura maritime attack drones off Crimea’s southern coast on August 7, the eve of Yalta’s City Day. GUR described the operation as a revival of a pre-war tradition-when Ukrainian naval ships would visit the city’s waterfront-as well as a "reminder to Russian occupiers that Crimea is Ukraine." The agency released video of the operation. Previously, Ukrainian naval drones attacked the cargo vessel "Janina" in the Black Sea. According to Russia’s Rosatom, two unmanned craft struck the ship about 130 nautical miles from Novorossiysk. Rosatom chief Alexei Likhachev insisted the ship was carrying only civilian cargo.

“The assumption at the time was that the KGB had led the coup to protect its own interests, but Service demonstrates that Kryuchkov, the KGB boss, was much more concerned about the overall collapse of the Soviet system. And anyway, many KGB officers refused to join the coup.”

The Soviet Union might exist in some modified form today if another person had been running the KGB in 1990 and 1991." I don’t want to make Kryuchkov into a nobody in this story, however, I do think he was more of the “face” of the KGB rather than true “boss.”

Love this casual “the boss of the KGB” in regard to Kryuchkov, because it is a lot easier to create victims and villains when you drop all the nuance and detail. I mean former US Ambassador to the USSR wrote that "People do make a difference, and Vladimir Kryuchkov made a big difference.

“The brief coup of August 1991 against him, headed by Vladimir Kryuchkov, the boss of the KGB, was the kneejerk response of a bureaucracy that knew things were going wrong but had absolutely no idea what to do about it.”
