MH Stories 2 gives you a Kula-Ya-Ku immediately, which has nest search and egg search packaged in, and this is almost certainly to offset how kinda annoying it was to find nests on a tiny-ass 3DS screen in Stories 1

The Kula-Ya-Ku is god's perfect idiot. It thinks rocks are eggs. It is just difficult enough that you feel good putting one down, but not so hard that you (metaphorically) throw a controller (LOOKING AT YOU ODOGARON!)
