Different concept art for Scott, a kushtaka (otter man). Originally had him from Canada or Alaska, but might make him from Seattle. Originally one of the main cast but I don't want too many main characters right away, so will be a secondary character for now. 🦦 #transfur #TF #otter #kushtaka

I never mentioned it was two ways.

A person has been transformed into a Kushtaka by a TF hoop, they're now trying to push the hoop back over themselves to turn back into a human, but it isn't working. "Uh... what? Wasn't this supposed to go both ways!?!" They think to themselves

This one took me a little while to do the textures on! I'm not good with crystal!
#transfur #TFSky #TFEveryday #SupporterRedeems
A kushtaka carefully sculpts a human into a crystal dragon upon a plinth, just a sculpture for holding potions, nothing more. "See? You make such a good potion holder don't you? I've been meaning to add a little more decor to the shop. You're absolutely perfect like this." The Kushtaka says. "So nice... just... crystal... hold potions... . . ." the thoughts of the once human say, before fading to a long crystal sleep. Sculptures are oft unthinking.

Well folks, we've reached it. Sketchpage 1,000. For just supporter redeems alone we've done 1,000 sketches in just two years. So have the followup to that old doodle I did in college, time for me to take a couple days break and just be a Kushtaka
#transfur #TFEveryday #SupporterRedeems #TFSky
Shi finishing up the 1,000th sketch on their supporter redeems queue, their body barely hanging on to human form after nonstop work through college and since graduation up till now. They go to get started on another sketch, only to find that their body simply can't stop itself from transforming into their true Kushtaka form and longer, hands become useless paws and the rest of the changes quickly follow, their body finally slipping and forcing them to take a break.

The Kushtaka, or 'land otter man', of Tlingit legend. It is said the Kushtaka will imitate the cries of a baby or the screams of a woman to lure victims to the river. Once there, the Kushtaka either tears the person to shreds or turns them into another Kushtaka.

A kushtaka can save a dying person's life through transforming him or her into another kushtaka.

Thing is, @joeyliverwurst.bsky.social didn't want to be saved from THIS injury.

Here in Southeast Alaska and British Columbia, Tlingit folklore features the "Kushtaka"

This is supposed to be scary...but admit it—there are a non-zero number of furries who find the prospect of being captured by a Kushtaka hot

I grew-up on campfire stories of the Tlingit Kóoshdaa káa AKA Kushtaka - A shape-shifting Otter Man that would imitate a crying baby or screaming woman to lure victims to the river, where they'd either maul the person to death or transform them into another Kushtaka. Terrifying stuff.
