While I'm fresh on the modding side of a project, I wanted to give it my all for the chance to help celebrate our incredible writers who have provided so much comfort throughout these trying times with their passion and stories. Sadly, working toward my degree burned me out from reading for a good while. Fanfiction honestly kept that spark alive, and I'm forever grateful for all the wild journeys they've taken me on. I'll read almost anything if the premise is compelling enough, though I do tend to gravitate towards something with mystery or suspense.

#L3Librarians
Writer KupoWonders Bsky | kupowonders Tumblr | kupowonders AO3 | KupoWonders Hi, Kupo here! Very excited to be a part of the library! I enjoy reading different genres and trying new things, but am always a sucker for interesting characters, angst, the power of friendship and bittersweet endings. If it made me cry (which isn't very hard to do), it did something very right! At the moment I think my favourite book is Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo - the dramatic finale to the Six of Crows duology! “Hey, Ren?” Ren turned to look at him, and Goro took his chance. He launched the water he had gathered in his arms up toward Ren with as much force as he could, and he had the pleasure of seeing him taken completely off-guard before his face was covered with seawater. He cackled as Ren spluttered, and there was a flash of anger in his face before he started laughing too. He swept his arm in a wide arc, sending a wave of water that clocked Goro in the jaw even as he turned his face away, and they started heading deeper into the water as they splashed each other with increasing force. The other people around gave them a wide berth, not keen to get caught up in the battle, and soon it seemed to be just them in the water. But as Goro stepped further away from Ren to get a better angle of attack, he slipped. His sure feet got caught in the shifting sand below, and Goro was unable to readjust before he started falling backward. He screwed his eyes shut against the inevitable saltwater, but before he could hit the waves one hand grabbed his wrist and another splayed across the small of his back, catching him just in time. Goro opened his eyes to the sight of Ren’s face consuming the sky, the eclipsed sun making the ends of his damp, dark hair glow, and as Goro stared into the face of this new sun he was Icarus, lost in the light.

#L3Librarians
Writer Ashe Tumblr | ashethehedgehog Twitter | emileeashe AO3 | ashethehedgehog Hi I'm Ashe! I'm a sucker for fun fantasy worldbuilding and dragons! AUs and angst are my bread and butter. My fav book would have to be The Secret of Dragonhome by John Peel, a classic! Joker had just enough time to brace his hands in front of him before Goro impacted with him, slamming them both into the far wall. "Oof!" Joker hissed, his head hitting against the wall with a loud crack. If Goro had been more aware of himself, he would have winced, but instead his body swelled with pleasure to hurt hurt hurt. "Crow! Hold on!" Joker gritted his teeth, arms keeping Goro at length. Goro's claws were inches from his face, trying their best to gouge out those beautiful features. One good swipe, and he could break that nose, rip a gash in his cheek that his doctor would have to spend ages stitching up. He could make Joker hurt, make him cry, make him bleed and- "Akechi. I'm sorry." Goro's body stilled, muscles braced but frozen. Through his mad haze, he could make out the despondent look on Joker's face. His eyes burnt with that same flame Goro was ever drawn to. Piercing straight through Goro's crazed state to pin him in place. He panted heavily, unable to move, to stop himself nor continue. "You're hurting, aren't you?" Joker said softly. “I didn't realise. You need to let out your frustrations, don't you?" “...” Goro pressed his lips into a line, willing his muscles to relax. The power was still humming through him, and he didn't feel nearly as satisfied. There were still reserves to burn, and given how uneasy he felt, and how long it had been since he could last let loose, he didn't like Joker's chances if he stuck around. He had to scare him off. Before he did something he would regret. "Fuck off!" Goro roared. Joker flinched, clearly not expecting the response so loud in his face "Akechi-" "Get out of here before I fucking kill you," Goro seethed..

Guest Writer Stealth Noodle Consider me an ancient internet cryptid.I couldn't pick a single favorite book to save my life, but my favorite genre is probably horror, and people usually recommend books to me with pitches like "This is the weirdest thing I've ever read. You'll love it." Bsky | stealthnoodle AO3 | Stealth_Noodle A final duel between rivals didn’t end with one bleeding out face-down in the dirt, so Akechi wrestled Ren onto his back, pinned one wrist with a knee and the other with a hand, and met his defiant glare, which didn’t falter even when the claws of Akechi’s other hand closed around his throat. Impossibly, Akechi could feel the thump and thrum of Ren’s pulse through the metal, pounding into his own veins. So much heat and life and potential held together by such delicate flesh. It wasn’t going to be clean. Nothing between them was ever going to be clean. But it would be as graceful as Akechi could make it, and he wouldn’t look away until he had drunk up the last of the light from Ren’s eyes. “I’ll listen to your last words,” he said, a little less coldly than he intended. “I make no promises regarding last requests.” Ren’s bootheels skidded and slapped against the floor. His arms shook and twisted but couldn’t break free. For a few seconds, the only sounds were his fast, heavy breaths, falling steadily quieter. Then Ren lay still and sharp, like shrapnel in the wake of an explosion, and said, “I want to know why you’re doing all of this.” There was no reason to deny him an answer, especially when he was about to take it with him to his grave. “Revenge.” “Is it worth it?” Two years ago, the scales hadn’t come close to tipping in favor of Akechi’s soul, and its withered remains weren’t any heavier now. “It has to be,” he found himself saying. “It’s the only thing that matters.” Ren started to nod, only to wince when he nicked himself on the tip of a claw. “One more question,” he said, pulling Akechi’s focus away...

#L3Librarians
Writer Convocated Bsky | convocated Tumblr | convocatedelegy AO3 | Convocated Hi, I'm Eri! I've been deeply obsessed with Goro Akechi since Royal, and have been dying for a writer-focused fanzine, so I couldn't be happier to be part of this project! My favourite book is The Lord of the Rings, and my favourite fic tropes are reunions, post-canon and enemies to lovers. Goro’s hand tightens on the handle, unseen. “You being here is dangerous enough, or did you forget we’re on different sides? What do you want, and why couldn’t it be said over the phone?” “I want to come in,” Akira insists, again. There’s no bag on his shoulder, so no cat. “I’m not talking to you from a gilded hallway like your bellboy.” Casting a look back into his bare, bleak condo, Goro feels scalded. An open, half-drank bottle of stolen whisky stands beside the ashtray on the coffee table. Cheap cigarette smoke hangs in the air. The door to his bedroom yawning wide open. Eighteen identical grease-stained takeout bags laying discarded on the kitchen island. He should refuse. “Okay,” he replies instead, leaving the door how it is and rushing toward the kitchen. Goro’s eyes flick back to see if Akira’s watching. He isn’t. He’s standing at the door, counting the deadbolts as he closes it. Goro uses the moment to stuff as many takeout bags into his overflowing trash can as possible. Slowly, Akira takes steps into his space. Goro feels stone cold sober watching him—more than sober, actually—hyper-aware, like he’s on a stimulant. Akira still hasn’t said a word. “I installed those after the summer,” Goro blurts out. “The deadbolts. I was getting quite a few threats, if you remember.” The trespasser and reason for the threats just pauses, glances at him, then nods. He’s now standing by the fake potted plant Goro slung near the windows, rubbing the plastic leaves and frowning. Goro got that in October, after being in Akira’s attic, and no, he doesn’t really know why...
