ACH has managed to undo all the goodwill Adam Harley built during that debate, reducing the LDAN community to a political point-scoring exercise with his staged media pantomime.

Extremely poor taste and frankly insulting. Clearly, that goes over his press officer's head.

Greens Libdems and Labour voted together in Holyrood but failed against the whipped SNP.
I mean on the pulling of LDAN proposed legislation after 5 year long widespread consultation.
I'd like to know why such well-researched and much-needed work was abandoned.

Any explanation?
After years of consultation the LDAN bill has been pulled .
Why?
SNP msp's whipped to vote against while Greens Libdem and Labour supported it.
November 2, 2026 at 9:35 AM
The SNP built a brilliant coalition of support for the LDAN Bill, only to deliberately unravel it in seconds.

Watching SNP MSPs whipped against what was our own outstanding policy is heartbreaking and embarrassing.

We've categorically lost this argument. Bring the Bill back.

Good debate on LDAN in Holyrood at the moment. Well worth a watch.

After 5 years of sharing their stories and shaping the LDAN bill, many disabled people feel deeply betrayed by the Scottish Government scrapping it.

Most of the hard work has already been done. It's time now for parliament to come together and get this legislation over the line.

Cams made cops better. They are filming everything they do, they film the suspect, other cops are filming everything too. It's the clearest case of 'sunlight disinfects' that has ever been. Cops do what they have to do, but they know a dozen eyes are watching. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldan...

The Scottish Parliament has voted in favour of asking the Scottish Government to bring back the Learning Disabilities, Autism and Neurodivergence (LDAN) Bill.

SCLD welcomes this decision, but a vote alone is not enough.

The First Minister whipped his SNP MSPs to vote against a motion which urged his party to u-turn on one of its failed promises and bring in a Learning Disabilities, Autism and Neurodivergence (LDAN) Bill.

Disappointed to read that #Scotgov have shelved the Learning Disabilities, Autism and Neurodivergence [LDAN] bill. All that wasted effort.

Yet another failure - what are they actually doing?

Very much hope this is the govt changing course and introducing the LDAN Bill. At the very least, explaining how they are going to achieve the aims of the bill without legislation.
October 2, 2026 at 8:29 AM
And yet the Scottish Government has discarded the LDAN bill, to the disappointment of the disability community which participated in numerous consultations over several years.
We believed the promises that had been made by ministers to finally enshrine rights, responsibilities and duties in law.

The dumping of the LDAN Act by the Scottish Government is disgraceful. Once again the failure of governments to understand the impact this will have on the daily lives of neurodivergent people. #LDAN @johnswinney.bsky.social
