LDPC Logic gates started looking a lot more concrete -- explicit constructions with realistic overheads for near but interesting codes we know (BB, lifted product codes,..) coming soon.

Open position: we have an excited opening for a 3-year contract (including a very nice welcome package to start building a small team) in our group at Inria Paris. If you want to work on quantum LDPC codes and fault tolerance, please consider applying. (1/2)

Time for some software.

If you’re an EE, you might be familiar with Shannon’s limit.

Modern encoders (LDPC) get *really* close to this mathematical bound.

Fun fact, your cellphone (on 5g) uses this encoding. 6x power reduction.

Great work by Yiyi Cai that improved the analysis of robustness for the local codes used in quantum Tanner codes.
(To be fair, the bounds remain quite pessimistic if one wishes good quantum LDPC codes with linear distance.)

It's been an amazing week at QEC25 seeing the incredible work people have done in the field over the past couple of years!
Abe Jacob did a fantastic job presenting our new work on trivariate tricycle codes, quantum LDPC codes that combine several nice fault-tolerant properties.

I have added support to generate alists for the 5G LDPC codes to my ldpc-toolbox. I use this and a simple sum-product algorithm implementation to decode the PDSCH. I show how the LLRs evolve during the decoding iterations and how all the punctured bits get recovered.
