I had to have those then a LEEP to burn cancer cells, then colposcopies every month for a year. No pain relief offered. It’s fucking barbaric.

Over the past 20 years, I find myself performing less and less colposcopy and LEEP procedures. These procedures are literally becoming extinct because of the HPV vaccine!!!

Also very cool: a study from 2024 found that in Scottish women fully vaccinated with the HPV vaccine in 2008, *no* cases of cervical cancer have been found. Not a single one. 100% success rate.

If they find suspicious cells, they might perform a LEEP procedure. They warn you ahead of time that it is very loud and sometimes people are upset by the burning smell. Comments are full of women saying they did not receive anesthesia or post-op pain management.

In 2024, I was diagnosed with HPV again and had to have LEEP surgery for an 8% chance of cervical cancer. I did general instead of localized anaesthesia and it cost me $1600+ with insurance, plus $40 per appointment with my OB-GYN. And the Gardasil vaccine has been approved for adults up to age 45!

I was lucky enough to have FSA funds and savings to cover the LEEP surgery and related medical costs, but it's just cheaper to get the Gardasil vaccine, which requires three doses for complete vaccination. Learn from me: get regular wellness checks (incl. pap smears if you have a cervix)!
