On this day in 1988, 20,000 LGBTQ people and our allies marched through the streets of Manchester to protest Section 28, which tried to stifle all mention of our lives.
At the time it was the largest gay rights gathering ever.

Dr Alan Hart was a transgender pioneer in medicine. One of the first trans men to undergo gender-affirming surgery in the US (1917), he also revolutionised TB detection by pioneering X-ray imaging in diagnostics, saving countless lives.

Syed Ross Masood was born OTD in 1889. Forster first met and fell in love with Masood in 1906, but the feelings were not reciprocated. The pair nevertheless remained friends, and Forster dedicated 'A Passage to India' (1924) to Masood and their "17 years of friendship" #LGBT+historymonth
