#LGDs
Having LGDs are a must out in the country where there are predators.
Imagine how nicely composted the soil would end up in that area though 😆
At some point the area would eventually turn itself into a food forest.

@sundogplanets Hopefully both the goats and the LGDs will get used to this new routine quickly.

The Molossus of Epirus — Myth vs Reality

The Molossus of Epirus is one of the most cited dogs in ancient literature — yet also one of the most misunderstood. Between myth, modern marketing, and misread sources, its real identity has been blurred. #dog #ancientDna #history #Greece #lgds #stem

Lab-grown diamonds (LGDs) owe their mass adoption to the Covid-19 pandemic, reports Bloomberg.
During that time, machines capable of growing 100 stones simultaneously emerged in India and China—the primary producers of synthetic diamonds.

They are called “disa-pyrs” by some for a reason lol lgds live by their own rules for sure

Livestock guardian #dogs were shaped by long-term selection on genes like OXTR / DRD2, reducing predatory drive and enhancing calmness, cooperation and social bond with the flock. Genetics reflect functional work, not myth.

Well based on my limited knowledge of the region, id say getting well trained LGDs would mitigate, but not eliminate the need for population control from a loss prevention perspective

I cannot tell you how much psychic whiplash there is in just seeing the words on this page.

Do people even remember LGDs...

hasn't HURT the mined coloured stone market. People still understand the premium for mined stones, as they're FAR rarer, and they require more labour.

Renaming LGDs as synthetics is a move that will almost certainly lead to lower costs in the synthetic diamond market, but will also help prop up

more appealing to potential customers. And it worked. Brilliantly. People didn't WANT synthetic diamonds. But they LOVE lab-grown diamonds (LGDs). The use of the new term absolutely helped launch the huge synthetic market that exists today.

So why is there a problem with it?

I've had LGDs for 45 years and this is the first time I've had to shoot anything other than a coyote they injured. I also have Fox Lights and electric fencing. I used to sit out all night on top of the 12' haystacks with a shotgun, too old for that anymore, lol.

Farmers need to get LGDs, not a rifle.

We use lgds and have lost 2 lambs in 12 years. That’s it.

This kind of talk makes me so angry. We know how to keep loss from predators down- use the old ways and have livestock guardian dogs. When we visited Romania they used dogs to deal with brown bears, wolves and other predators. It works, but ranchers need support to use lgds.
Trump’s audience uncomfortably laughs as he makes a premature announcement that ranchers can now kill wolves who are on the endangered species list
September 4, 2026 at 11:23 PM
but as a close connection who was managing land in the wolf-reintroduction zone of CA recently pointed out to me, it’s really mostly cattle ranchers that are pissy. Sheep folks are doing better bc they already hire herders to stay out with the animals, use LGDs, etc.

Having Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGDs), I can accurately say they share one basic quality... If you are rubbing a tummy, or a neck, or whatever, the moment you stop to go back to work, you get the "don't stop" look.

You could be giving a tummy rub for 5 hours... they look at you, "don't stop!!!" 🤣

Made an important edit on Beefs ref
Leos are sweethearts but not rlly LGDs

Because ~wolf~ as been the yt-man's boogieman for centuries. And ranchers make money from kills they attribute to ~wolf~ that is more likely coyotes.
All it would take to protect the livestock is a couple of LGDs whether on the ranch or PL
🚨New study reveals killing wolves did not reliably prevent subsequent livestock damage. In some cases livestock losses actually increased after they were lethally removed.

If killing wolves doesn’t reliably prevent future conflict, why is it still being used as a solution?

Study: Shooting Wolves Barely Protects Livestock
Five field studies compared: killing wolves mostly does not prevent livestock losses. In some cases the number of kills even rises afterwards.

Oh, I'm so sorry. We lost our goose and a bunch of other birds when in between LGDs. They really do earn their keep. Not just in protection right around the animals but also in marking a perimeter so predators know it's not worth their time to investigate further.
