Can the brain recognize shapes through sound? Yes: in a 2007 study, trained blind & sighted participants extracted object shape from The vOICe soundscapes, activating shape-processing brain area LOtv. No implanted electrodes needed. web.archive.org/web/20190331... (PDF); #BCI #blindness
Figure 1 from the paper "Shape conveyed by visual-to-auditory sensory substitution activates the lateral occipital complex" https://doi.org/10.1038/nn1912 by Amir Amedi et al. Paper abstract: The lateral-occipital tactile-visual area (LOtv) is activated when objects are recognized by vision or touch. We report here that the LOtv is also activated in sighted and blind humans who recognize objects by extracting shape information from visual-to-auditory sensory substitution soundscapes. Recognizing objects by their typical sounds or learning to associate specific soundscapes with specific objects do not activate this region. This suggests that LOtv is driven by the presence of shape information.

Just replayed through the entire Starcraft franchise and... the story is awful. Lots of retconning, HOTS was rushed, LOTV is fine but monotonous. At least WOL was good

It opens very bright, citrusy, and fruity - bergamot, sweet orange, and something leafy-herbal before drying into a spicy soapy powdery floral dominated by rose and LotV, plus orris.

The base is powdery sweet amber with sandalwood/vanilla/tonka and a classic civet/oakmoss combo. Beautiful.

Hihi! Didn't know there are other LoTV readers on this site! And yesssss I also very much agree that most people irrationally hate it because it turns out to be ntr at the end (also sorry for seemingly out of nowhere comment. I just stumbled on your post while searching for something else 😭)

And I'm also glad the new game is set 70 years after LotV, so hopefully we never see any characters return that could potentially be bastardised by the writers

I mostly played Brood War, and never played Starcraft II before LotV. There's some crazy shit in those early expansions.

Canonically a lot of Marines are brainwashed convicts, with a very loose burden of what gets you convicted. Granted this is what? 70 years post LoTV so it could be that the Dominion has made good on its attempts to reform and the Marines are the disposable troops they used to be.

It's interesting because the transmissions in that website teaser showed the year 2585 iirl? So it would be 77 years after lotv epilogue

I was wondering why the armor looks more futuristic and less round like in the original.

Cause the dominion is still a thing so is most likely not taking place after the events of lotv and maybe between brood war and sc2?
