#LPC23
(26/32) Labour’s speeches and policy announcements at LPC23 were carefully designed to squeeze through the Overton Window. That means that there are many things which are true and important – and would in principle be desirable for them to say – but they did not say them.

(6/32) At LPC23, the speeches were carefully crafted : they projected an image of calm confidence and responsibility. They were light on policy. but there were important announcements on workers’ rights, green energy, housing and social care among others.

(5/32) Unlike the previous week’s Conservative Party conference, the auditoriums were full. The most popular speeches at LPC23 were not disaffected cabinet ministers jostling for position, but the Shadow Chancellor and the Leader of the Opposition.

Things I learned at #LPC23: reflections on the train home yesterday.

1) the Hilton served the worst coffee I’ve ever experienced

2) Liverpool is a fantastic city that I haven’t explored nearly enough

3) freebies drive engagement. Nothing like high quality loot to bring people to a stand

This week I am mostly in Liverpool. It's absurdly warm. Anyway, we have a stand and a room, so come and visit them if you happen to be at LPC23 and like either of those things.
