And lest anyone get their knickers in a twist … I have huge respect for LPNs. Some of the best nurses I’ve ever met are LPNs. But when someone interviews for a supervisory position and you offer a floor position … Nah.

LPNs have diplomas. It took me 4 years of college to become an RN. Nonetheless this is putting peoples lives in danger.

Oh there's a quick little tool here to run license plate #s and see if the vehicle's been flagged as used by ICE.

That still pencils out to poverty wages for the caregivers. NONE of them were CNAs, to say nothing of LPNs. Just people, often aging themselves. They certainly couldn't have lifted her if she fell.

Whoa, whoa. Shots fired at LPNs. LPNs are absolutely nurses. They're performing the same kinds of practical nursing duties that plenty of RNs do, at less pay and with less opportunity for advancement.

Maybe the law is different in your state, but in Connecticut meds are dispensed only by RNs or LPNs.

Just got a text from my health center, which is affiliated with Boston Medical Center, to avoid BMC if I'm experiencing "a medical emergency" because of an "IT outage."
Tomorrow morning, meanwhile, 2,000 RNs and LPNs are scheduled to picket BMC, starting at 6 a.m. over contract talks.

RNs get paid decently.
RNs with a BSN or higher generally get paid pretty well, especially if they're in a union.

My extended family are real rural MAGA. Dairy farmers, prison guard, insulation contractor, concrete contractor, truck driver, cabinet maker etc. A couple women are LPNs with 2-year community college degrees and that is the extend of college education among the whole lot.

During WW II the US gov’t paid for a huge number of women to get their nursing degrees. For many of those families, this was a HUGE step up into a financially stable middle class.

Exactly. Federal workers, nurses, LPNs, ER docs, admin clerks, social workers, keep everything running, weekends included. The disrespect is infuriating. Just know that we see you, appreciate you, and value the work you do every damn day.

Given the negotiations with AHS, LPNs, Lab & Covenant are either being slow boated or awaiting a strike vote
Why not have members of ALL THESE vote on the current offer &/or strike vote & we could have 100k on LEGAL strike in 2 weeks.

Just adding this for further clarification. Board certified MDs in the US are not required to go through recertification in Ontario and Nova Scotia.
Every province is hiring RNs, LPNs, etc, also.

“The immigrants” keep our friggin health care system running. They’re the techs, the care aides and supports, LPNs and RNs, the doctors working the terrible shifts in rural spaces. Conservative governments cutting health care or diverting federal funds into gen rev have done the system damage.
