I guess what I'm getting at here is that one should be very suspicious of the concept of "prestige" in media. I don't think anyone would describe LPOTL as a prestigious institution, but I legit think it's a better way to engage with true crime stories than 99% of the content out there on the topic

Being LPotL fans, I was discussing this with the wife yesterday and we were wondering how/what they got wrong? Generally Marcus relies on 1-3 sources for the research, and I can understand them picking the wrong books that look right from a layman's perspective. What might you recommend instead?

Kissel-era LPOTL. Every story was “I’m a blackout drinker!” not surprising to find out he was a domestic abuser. Tagging every one of Henry’s jokes with a pun, but loud.
The best podcasts are the ones where all three of the hosts energies are so distinct and perfectly complementary that if the show has even 1% more from one of the people it falls apart completely, you need a loud person, a thoughtful person, and a person who says weird stuff that’s the ideal setup
