#LabMeetings
Silent reading before speaking: one lab’s memo meetings changed who talks and what they admit. 20 min of quiet, then 70 min of #LabMeetings #ScienceCommunication #OpenScience #ResearchCulture

Writing, making mistakes during writing and correcting those mistakes (through feedback, labmeetings, and personal interaction) is fundamental to achieving not only "good quality" science, but also for getting to know yourself as a scientist. Writing reflects your inner thoughts.
This is so upsetting. Outsourcing writing does not "free up time to do more science" it's just a step further toward becoming the CSO at the top of a managerial pyramid rather than being a scientist

@jonny

This is so, so common! To avoid this, we have labmeetings every week where everybody shows everything they did the past week.

Es que ver a la gente bloqueade por mi tl (y estarlo yo mismo) me hace replantearme la idea de los labmeetings versión escritoril para presentar nuestros problemas escritoriles y que nos ayudemos entre todes 🥲🥲

This was the product of many joint labmeetings and writing sessions between @tsawallis.bsky.social and my own lab, with @florianmahner.bsky.social & Philipp Kaniuth.

Kudos in augmenting, distilling, structuring & writing it all down go primarily to lead authors @rothj.bsky.social & Yunyan Duan!

Point of View: An easy way to improve lab meetings doi.org/10.7554/eLif...

I'm really happy to see this one out @elife.bsky.social. Awesome Cara Glynn and I describe and reflect on a year-long, low-cost practice that transformed our group meetings.

Point of View: An easy way to improve lab meetings
Sharing positive and negative experiences at lab meetings can make a career in science a little less hard, a little more pleasant, and a little more human.
