#LandBankers
"Housing supply is always the answer." No it's not. Under #OffshoreGregor Robertson Vancouver had a lot of new supply of housing.

But a lot of that was for foreign #LandBankers stashing cash here & domestic speculators, not locals living here

Most important ? in housing?

Homes for whom?

Not true. Pre Trudeau we had overall support by most for immigration because it was in numbers we could absorb in terms of housing, schools hospitals.

Domestic real estate speculator JD cranked #s up beyond capacity, driving up housing prices & rents allowed foreign Landbankers & domestic specs to

I'm befuddled by a govt - Lab-lead or Nat-lead, they increasingly look the same - that allows homelessness, rental insecurity and outright extortionate rents while the corporates and everyday Mum and Dad landbankers sit on empty land waiting for a better tax-free capital gain.

Most i think are either domestic real estate speculators like poilievre, Trudeau, Carney or liberal housing minister Gregor Robertson or foreign #Landbankers.

It is the most powerful way to housing affordablity vs more supply for foreign landbankers and domestic real estate speculators will magically work when it hasn't for decades

Strange. #Senakaw seems like a good stable income generating investment from the outside, wonder why #Westbank is selling it's stake in something that seems like good recurring revenue?

Did #Westbank expand too fast & depend on foreign #Landbankers too much & they're short of cash?

Ex CEO of $278 Billion real estate speculation co Brookfield Carney appoints #OffshoreGregor Robertson as housing minister

Gregor made Chinese #LandBankers, rich

Canadian domestic RE speculators, rich

#VanRE developers, rich.

Renters, poor

Homes, unaffordable

housing crisis is under control and we need a Singapore stamp tax on housing

Homes for Whom is the most important ? in housing.

Building more for foreign landbankers or domestic speculators won't help locals living here

60% for foreigners

65% tax for business/trustees
Tax 2nd homes 20% 3rd 30%

ive had a shitty job id say was evil. i worked for a while as a "property inspector" for landbankers. the main purpose of the job was to report squatters (i didnt) and to hang foreclosure notices. eventually an old guy told me "eventually someone's gonna attack you" and i told him "thx, im quitting"

Well, Singapore having nearly all land owned by the state is one means of ensuring the property industry isn't a speculative leach on the more productive parts of the economy. While New Zealand still offers undue political protection for landbankers, Singapore can build great things like the MRT.

Yeah, 'coz the private sector building houses has worked out just beautifully....for the rent seekers

Everyone else is basically priced out, but yay! Greedy landbankers & developers are raking it in!

Meanwhile, mum & the kids living in their car should just raid their family trust, hey?

So it looks like the landbankers and speculators who gain huge unearned capital gains from rezonings and publicly funded infrastructure won’t have to pay value-capture rates. Govt eyes big new infrastructure levies, but no value-capture rates thekaka.substack.com/p/govt-eyes-...

Q&A: Who is to blame for the housing crisis?
The RBNZ? The banks? Landlords? First home buyers? Councils? The RMA? Labour? National? Building materials makers? Builders? Real estate agents? Landbankers? Noone in particular. Just voters generally....

The long story very, very short? Suburban home-owning NIMBYs, landlords and landbankers will love it, councils will smirk and ignore it, and young renters are unlikely to change their plans to re-start their lives and families in Australia....

The Labour Government's choice to hike inheritance tax on farmers is simply wrong. Farming families plough large sums into their farms to grow food for our tables, and most make very little for themselves. We need to be taxing the big landholders and landbankers, not small family-run farms.

Homelessness is the worst I've ever seen with mass tent encampments all over London alongside the lowest council housing stock I've ever seen as it's been replaced by private over priced developments for a quick buck to landbankers and increase in HMOs and antisocial behaviour.

Somebody tell Starmer Landbankers don't pay tax and speculate on the empty property market from China and Dubai.

Just had a read of his webpage and it all seems really sensible. Land value-based rates is a big one—landbankers would be made to pay rates based on the value of the premium land they're sitting on

*act against landbankers
November 21, 2024 at 10:18 PM
I don’t dispute the need to act landbankers and tax dodgers. What I want is the value of all the components of a working farm be rigorously established and a realistic tax free inheritance value established, as long as the land is being chiefly farmed by the owner.
