So, recap: A candlelight vigil for #AlexPretti led by nurses and attended by elected officials across #LaneCountyOR was interrupted by DHS agents, lots of flash bangs, PepperBalls, and tear gas.

Now, there is talk that the Eugene Police are on the way.

BREAKING: #LaneCountyOR has just announced the suspension of its #Flock contract.

In essence, they are suspending it as long as #EugeneOR and #SpringfieldOR aren't participating in data collection and sharing.

The Sheriff’s Office still has not installed any cameras anywhere in Lane County. LCSO's contract with Flock Safety was initiated after the Eugene Police Department and Springfield Police Department began work to install their systems. For an ALPR system to be most effective in preventing crime and holding offenders accountable, coordination between local agencies is paramount. Without other local networks to integrate with, LCSO is looking for ways to best utilize the resources that we have available to keep our residents safe. 'We are still examining this type of technology and others in an effort to improve community and deputy safety,' said Sheriff Carl Wilkerson. 'AlPRs have proven their benefit to our residents with the capture of multiple murderers over the past year.' The Oregon Legislature is expected to examine the use of ALPR technology by law enforcement agencies in the next legislative session. As decisions made at the state level will likely impact local systems and policies, it will be beneficial to receive guidance prior to making a final determination on the use of ALPR technology. As our community continues to engage in conversation regarding this technology, the Sheriff’s Office will work with our residents and partner agencies to identify modern law enforcement tools and practices that meet our high standards of local control and privacy."

JUST IN: The #LaneCountyOR Sheriff's Office has announced that Deputy Dylan Ford, who has been with the office for 7.5 years, was placed on unpaid leave after being arrested for allegedly having a relationship with a foreign minor in a different country.

LCSO immediately contacted an outside agency so that an independent investigation couldbe conducted into the allegation. On July 28", 2026, outside agency investigators arrested the involved employee, Dylan Ford. Ford has been placed on unpaid administrativeleave pending conclusion of the criminal investigation. He has beenemployed with LCSO for approximately 7 ½ years. The Lane County Sheriff's Office does not have additional details availableat this time. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contactthe Federal Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-CALL FBI (1-800-225-5324).
