Después de descubrir la traición de Long Feng, Aang y los demás llegaron hasta el Rey Tierra e intentaron convencerlo de las intenciones de su ministro. Quisieron mostrarle las instalaciones secretas bajo el Lago Laogai, pero estas habían sido destruidas.
Envió a un manipulado Jet para intentar que sigan una pista falsa fuera de la ciudad, pero el Equipo Avatar encontró el escondite bajo el Lago Laogai y recuperó a Appa luego de enfrentarse a Long Feng, aunque Jet murió en el combate.
