Eines der 1.600 Objekte, die derzeit in THE hidden LÄND in Stuttgart ausgestellt sind: Der Rüsselbecher aus grünlichem Glas wurde in einem reich ausgestatteten Frauengrab in Lauchheim gefunden. Das Trinkgefäß stammt vermutlich aus einer Werkstatt im Rheinland. Um 600 n. Chr.

Another stunning object currently on display at "THE hidden LÄND": a beautiful early medieval cobalt blue glass bell beaker, dating late 7th century, found in a burial in Lauchheim.
In "THE hidden LÄND" erwarten Euch so wunderbare Objekte wie dieser kobaltblaue, gläserne Sturzbecher aus dem Grab eines Mannes in Lauchheim - das einzige Exemplar dieser Farbe aus Baden-Württemberg.
Sturzbecher waren im Frühmittelalter weit verbreitet. Wegen des ....1/2

Colourful beads were very popular in the early medieval period. This necklace was found in a burial in Lauchheim, dating around 700 AD. The beads were made of glass and amethyst.

This type of vessel has no foot and will not stand upright, it had to be emptied before it could be put down.

The decline in popularity is generally attributed to either a decrease in demand for cloisonné or significant disruptions to the supply of garnet from Sri Lanka and India.

Ein kobaltblauer, gläserner Sturzbecher aus dem Grab eines Mannes in Lauchheim - das einzige Exemplar dieser Farbe aus Baden-Württemberg.
Sturzbecher waren im Frühmittelalter weit verbreitet. Wegen des gerundeten Bodens musste man sie vor dem Abstellen austrinken.

...was found in a man's grave in Lauchheim, it dates to the 7th century AD. This was a period when Christianity was spreading in south-west Germany and both Pagan and Christian elements are appearent in the material culture, in some cases....2/3

These crystal objects were likely valued not only for their purported powers but also for their economic worth. This crystal sphere was found in Lauchheim, dating to the late 6th or early 7th century.

Currently on display at "THE hidden LÄND", Stuttgart.

Das Schmuckensemble aus der Zeit um etwa 700 n. Chr. wurde in einem Frauengrab in Lauchheim gefunden. Es besteht aus einer Kreuzfibel, goldenen Ohrringen, einer Halskette aus Glasperlen und Amethysten sowie einer als Anhänger gefassten goldenen langobardischen Münze.
