My fifth great-grandfather was one of the Ringers of Launcells Tower. One of the others, John Ham, married his sister Anna Maria Lisle (it's been spelled both ways but both are pronounced Lyle). georgianera.wordpress.com/2017/10/24/t...

We came across this piece of art whilst researching the heroine of our latest book, Mrs Rachel Charlotte Williams Biggs. The painting was inspired by a poem called ‘The Ringers of Launcells Tower’ …

Yeah...my English roots are entirely on my mother's side of the family. My 5th great grandfather, John Lyle, was one of the ringers of Launcells Tower. Another, John Ham, married John's sister Anna Maria. Neat tidbits to be found, for sure.

Speaking of Cornwall art, my 5th great grandfather was John Lyle, one of the Ringers of Launcells and is said to have rung the bells for the coronation of three kings. Another one of the ringers, John Ham, married John's sister Anna Maria (though they registered her birth under the surname Lisle).

Each parish also has an index that includes a few links to useful info (and also to the online database search) - I was able to find my fourth great-grandfather's will. There's lots of info to be found so get ready to knock down walls. I have! The Launcells one is attached as an example.

I can definitely say that I have ancestral roots in the parish of Launcells. Like my relatives in PEI, they all seemed to have lived in the same areas.

My 5th great-grandfather was one of the ringers of Launcells Tower. His name was John Lyle. I am also related to the John Ham they mentioned - he married John's sister Anna Maria.

There is one relative really far back who is in Diana's direct blood line but that doesn't not lead to my blood line so we are not even remotely related but it's cool nonetheless. My 5th great-grandfather John Lyle was one of the Ringers of Launcells, the subject of a poem and painting!

My nannie's maiden name was Lyle. The Lyle mentioned in this excerpt is my 5th great grandfather. I have just confirmed every detail I have about him as being accurate.

Another man in the painting is John Ham and he married John's sister Anna Maria so I am related to that line as well.

I've gotten as far back as the mid-1600s on some of them. I have found that my 4th GG was one of the ringers of Launcells Town and my 4th Great-Aunt married into the Colman mustard family! Some fun discoveries for sure!
