I'm a white guy who grew up in Mississippi and I'm still surprised by the depth and breadth to which Obama's election broke people's brains, and the persistence of the wound. Some important color on the internecine lawprof fight about what it takes to teach law. I see, from time to time, arguments that "academics" make bad law profs because they've never practiced, or haven't practiced enough, and that all it takes to be a lawprof is experience.

For the record, despite what generations of both law profs and law students seem to have assumed, Prof Kingsfield in the Paper Chase is most assuredly a villain, whether he was intended to be or not.
I took a class with a Kingsfield-like prof, and his abuse was absolutely antithetical to learning.

At least 30% of national media discourse on MeToo BLM the wokes etc etc was over whether one specific professor at an Ivy should be allowed to fuck his students
