A trade war has the potential to devastate industries and businesses in communities on both sides of the border. Relationships across borders will get us through this economic challenge together. Thanks to @CanEmbUSA, @leagueofcities and @NACoTweets for meeting with FCM today.

This week I signed a series of letters signaling the city's positions on federal and state bills that would affect sustainability, resiliency, and housing in Thousand Oaks. We work with @leagueofcities and @calcities to develop policy positions that best serve city residents and businesses.

Great to meet so many people from all over the United States at #ccc25 . Our colleagues south of the border @leagueofcities ( the equivalent to @FCM_online ) shared many experiences that we all have in common.

NLC President Mayor Patterson, thank you for the great discussion today.

Excited to get to work! Thank you @leagueofcities for continuing to bring the voices of our cities to the national level. As Vice Chair I’ll continue to advocate for cities nationwide on critical issues like climate resilience, flood infrastructure, sustainability, and more.

via @leagueofcities Countdown to LUCA : Practical Strategies for Local, Tribal and State Governments [webinar, Oct. 28] https://nlc-org.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_fA9e2iokSKK8DN_RjFk1Ag?t=1791297967758&utm_source=censusSDC
Welcome! You are invited to join a webinar: Countdown to LUCA : Practical Strategies for Local, Tribal and State Governments. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.
The 2030 Census Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) operation may seem distant, but preparation begins well before the official launch in May 2027. Join the National League of Cities (NLC) and the National Association of Counties (NACo) for the first webinar in a series focused on practical steps communities can take to prepare for effective participation. LUCA is the only opportunity for local, Tribal and state governments to review and correct the Census Bureau’s residential address list before the census begins, a critical step to ensuring an accurate and complete count. An accurate count directly affects the distribution of federal funding for programs and services for the next decade. This webinar will feature Census activities currently underway in rural communities, urban neighborhoods and Tribal Nations. Speakers will demonstrate what effective early preparation looks like, share lessons learned and discuss strategies that leaders can use to improve address data, engage stakeholders and position their communities for a successful LUCA operation. In addition to highlighting promising practices, the webinar will help lay the groundwork for a peer-to-peer support network where local, Tribal and state leaders can connect, exchange ideas, and provide assistance throughout the LUCA process. Whether you are new to LUCA or beginning to organize your community's census preparation efforts, this session will provide practical insights and resources to help you get started.

President Trump’s census proposal could upend funding for programs that rely on population data
