💧 Rivers are easy to take for granted.

They connect communities, support wildlife, help reduce flooding and shape the landscapes we love.

A good day to pause and notice the river nearest to you.

Look Deeper Into Nature

Nature teaches us through every landscape, plant, and quiet discovery. When we slow down and observe closely, we better understand the world we depend on.

Lessons Beyond the Road

Some of life's greatest lessons aren't found inside four walls. They're discovered on mountain roads, in quiet valleys, and through the people we meet along the way. Every step teaches something worth carrying forward.

The brown Tansy flower heads are often used as resting platforms and those still producing nectar and still golden in colour for feeding ..

Another walk along narrow strip of #chalkgrassland between arable fields, road & golf course today showed changing times 4 its wildlife. The plants, as they have done 4 eons, are responding to ongoing #drought by shortening stems, shrinking flower heads, going to seed early.

The fact that nature can respond with such ingenuity is just so uplifting with only one downside being that so few seem to see it or realise it.

This Common Blue male fed for 5 whole mins on this flower of a short-stemmed Common Ragwort 😊

As #CommonBlue seems 2 have a liking 4 yellow flowers to feed in .. not exclusively .. I'm taking another hint from nature to give this avid nectar feeder a wider range of gold tints on my #allotment.
Hoping for more high summer Ukrainian colour combo next year ☀️💙 #butterflies

This lovely lady #Brimstone & the #QueenRed-tailedbumblebee were loving the lilac round-abouts in the teasel patch this morning on #allotment.
Again I timed them: the queen stayed for 14 mins & the lady for 32.
So worth growing them if you have room!

Nothing interests me more than the question how to feed ourselves, how to live, in a way that works with and not against nature.

Just for starters! If starlings can live in peace together so well, surely humans can too. Took these photos this week near home. Tis a daily occurrence.

One of my favorite perks of working in the preserve is getting to see all the wildlife interact.

We humans could learn a lot from nature. The ways that they interact, and the ways that they give each other space is always a gentle reminder to be a better human.
