Leatherqueers: what are our favorite products to keep our leather moisturized? I've been using Huberd's but I know people have strong opinions about this. Ideally something that's good for everything from shoes to jackets to purses, if that makes a difference!

I do. I was a high-profile activist in the 2nd half of the 90s and early 00s. Bc of that, I was privy to some* of what went on in their board meetings. It was bad. They hated the leatherqueers, too.

I think there could only be one possible solution to this and that is: I need to hang out with the leatherdykes and leatherqueers I look up to and who are also teaching me to best version of myself I can be. And also wear my leather more often, obviously.

Lughnassadh 2026 – True Power Builds Community
Once upon a time, there was a low-budget, volunteer-run leather dyke weekend in Ottawa (and then in Toronto, and then in Ottawa again) called Unholy Harvest. This event was foundational for me. It introduced me to the idea of "leather queer" as someone who, yes, is a kinky freak, but also is someone who takes care of their people, proactively helps out where needed, and follows through on what they say they'll do.
