#Leeway
in fairness, i can see why N. Biggar might want a little leeway here specifically
A Scottish Tory peer has spoken out in defence of using the N-word.

Nigel Biggar argued in a blogpost that it is 'stupidly unjust' for people to be punished for using the N-word if they did not mean it in a racist way.

Remember, Trump shares the goal of destroying NATO with Putin. That gives Putin more leeway to invade Europe. It also enables Trump to consolidate more wealth and power.

the leeway that our media, financial and political elites give to republicans on the economy is legitimately mind boggling

There should be ZERO leeway given.

I just want marginalized people to have a fifth of the leeway white straight men and fascists get. not 100% of the leeway, because they get way way way too much, but a fifth would sure be something

banning "CRT scholars being paid to speak on campus" seems straightforwardly like a way to ban state universities from allowing any black scholar or thinker to speak on campus by giving authorities leeway to say they represent "CRT"
AL SB 129 doesn't ban DEI offices. Here's what it DOES ban:
- CRT scholars being paid to speak on campus
- Programming for international students
- Black student unions
- Faculty assigning a video of a German citizen expressing guilt for the Holocaust

Alabama Republicans Pass Expansive Legislation Targeting D.E.I.
The measure would not only cut funding to diversity programs at public colleges, but also limit the teaching of “divisive concepts” surrounding race and gender.

Scammers gonna scam.

Trump understands that courts give him huge leeway if he hand-waves “national security,” eg his ballroom, and so now he’s trying to pretend there’s a security imperative for his arch.

Sen. Markwayne Mullin’s new role could grant him leeway to control how detained immigrants receive reproductive or gender-affirming health care.
Violent. Anti-abortion. Anti-trans. Posts from Trump’s new DHS pick preview more of the same.

Others have noted this before, but it's ENRAGING to see corporations and bosses give this bullshit "A.i." trash FAR more leeway for error and general crappiness than they'd ever give any human creator.
I've started to see arguments that we have to get used to AI Slop coding even if it isn't great, because it's fast. Humans could go faster, too, if they're allowed to turn in stuff that only sometimes works. Such a fascinating double standard that will in no way come back to haunt, naw.

i am willing to give people a *lot* of leeway if they flatly acknowledge the trade-offs theyre making or the price the objects of their sentimental attachment made other people pay. i am less willing to give leeway to people who pretend there are no trade-offs and youre making all that up
you can levy the same charge at plenty of capitalist revolutions, sure, and im not saying you have to completely shed any spark of nostalgia for lenin (though i can never share it,) but like. at least bother to be ashamed.
