In Feb 2020, Chinese authorities arrested #XuZhiyong & subjected him to #RSDL with #torture. After extended detention, the court sentenced him to 14 years for #subversion. He went on hunger strike demanding right to communicate with fiancée #LiQiaochu.

Outrageous to learn that a prison officer of Lunan Prison in Shandong province teared a letter, written by legal scholar #XuZhiyong’s fiancée #LiQiaochu, into pieces in front of Xu Zhiyong. That’s why Xu started his hunger strike on 4 Oct. It has been 44 days now. 😢
