"fiddling with the fiction order" = figuring out what physical books publishing in the next 1-5 months should go to which of 9 locations, and how many, with a budget of about $4,000 #CollectionDevelopment #LibraryDayInTheLife #LibrarySky #LibraryLife

Back on the reference desk for another two hours!

- logged back in to everything I have been working on
- converted several $20 bills to ones and quarters to ones so our cash drawer would actually be useful

The rest of my shift, I:

- loaned the wite-out again, to the same person
- helped someone access the local paper via our databases
- fiddled with the fiction order
- thought about lunch
- gave people more time on computers

Now back to fine-tuning the November fiction order in between helping people print things, both from their phones and our computers. #LibraryDayInTheLife #LibrarySky

Which reminded me to check on my Cost-per-Circ numbers for October: $499.48 for 122 circulations, 77% of which were audiobooks that I did not have to purchase for an average cost of $68 each. Adding all these numbers to a tracking spreadsheet! #CollectionDevelopment #LibraryDayInTheLife #LibrarySky

Numbers on the OverDrive order I just put through: 47 items at a cost of $41.22 per unit, which is well over my average so far for the fiscal year of $26.29/unit, but that's what libraries get for buying audiobooks (sad trombone). #CollectionDevelopment #LibraryDayInTheLife #LibrarySky

Highlights of today's order:

- A Glacier's Guide to Dying (www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/miche...)
- Sweet Pea (us.macmillan.com/books/978125..., selected as a Read with Jenna title)
- Sunflower Season (www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/804253...) #CollectionDevelopment #LibraryDayInTheLife

When not interacting with patrons, I have been working on the November Fiction order and will also be putting through a weekly OverDrive order today, since it's a publication day for several books in my cart! #LibrarySky #DayInTheLife #LibraryDayInTheLife #CollectionDevelopment

So far today I have printed pay stubs, photocopied IDs, given people more computer time, loaned out a charger and wite-out, taken in a pair of headphones, and generated a list of publicists in the area #LibrarySky #DayInTheLife #LibraryDayInTheLife

I just remembered that we used to do Librarian Day in the Life posts on Twitter (RIP), where we took a day to talk about the things we did. #LibrarySky #DayInTheLife #LibraryDayInTheLife
