As many of my former Twitter followers know, I did quite a bit of work for Lifebanc when I was a resident. I was the one who they hired to put in the lines, arterial, central and float a Swan-Ganz catheter to monitor their cardiac and pulmonary function to keep them alive for organ donation. 4/

I would add that after brain death the organs die fairly quickly, no amount of artificial ventilation or meds can keep them alive.
I worked for LifeBanc when I was a resident in Cleveland and there was a very limited time to harvest the organs after brain death.

Lifebanc reportedly organized more than 1,000 organ transplants during that timeframe.

Of those, more than a third were allocated out of sequence…

Of the 362 out-of-sequence organs, 207 went to Cleveland Clinic.
