Grew up with Whitworth threads, starting my mining electrician apprenticeship in 1980. And as an aside, the universal standard for camera, lightstand and tripod mounts are still 1/4 whitworth; occasionally 3/8 for big cameras!

Forgot a tilting stand adapter, so I put a ball head on a lightstand and screwed the strobe foot to the quick release.

a massive amount of the film was just traditional animation and roto, hell the pitch for it was a fully 2D short with lightstand effects.. still a hell of a thing though, the design talent that movies in the 70s and 80s routinely brought together was absurd

This is Alex as a crying Madonna. I made the halo out of craft odds and ends and propped it up on a lightstand behind her head. The tears are made with hot glue and I stuck them to her face using moisturizer.

But also that doesn't actually include the light or lightstand. You don't necessarily need a strobe light for many use cases and can get by with a portable flash & remote controller attached to the camera + an S-bracket adapter for your softbox.

Spent last week on vacation with my brother and his family. It was an excellent time. My sister-in-law had these made for me and my children: they are glass globes infused with the ashes of my mother and father, who died within 6 weeks of each other in 2020. It sits in my recording booth now.
