Entering into a love affair with the aesthetics of Lingzi
A character in a Chinese opera manipulating their Lingzi (a headdress with two long pheasant feathers) so that the feathers are pointing in two different directions. They are dressed in an elaborate pink and blue floral dress with several kinds of tassels and there are fluffy pink balls on the headdress. Their makeup is pale with deep pink above and below the eyes and dark brows Sun Wukong, the Monkey King from one of the television series holding one of his Lingzi feathers in his mouth

peek behind the curtain i knew i wanted her to have bunny ears but opted to give her lop ears because i wanted to give her an opera headdress with lingzi (ornamental pheasant feathers) but didn't want to crowd her silhouette too much

I’ve been calling them all Naresuan but it occurs to me those antennae look a lot like Lingzi of Chinese opera, so the naming convention might complexify

Baigujing in the opera au.

My part of a design trade with royaltea000 on tumblr, where we both interpreted baigujing in our own ideas/au

A full body drawing of my opera design of baigujing, the lady bone demon. She has a primarily white + blue color palette like fine china, with red accents. Silver designs and purple floral patterns decorate the outfit. Her headdress is the top half of a skull, with two long dark blue lingzi trailing behind her.

Watching JUDGE DEE'S MYSTERY. It's tonally quite unlike the Robert van Gulik novels despite nominally being based upon them, but very enjoyable for all that. Very procedural, which - given the historical context - is fun in a Cadfael sort of way.
Ad image for JUDGE DEE'S MYSTERY (2024). Our lad Di Renjie (Yiwei Zhou) is in the middle, with Qiao Tai (Ta Ji) second on the left and Ma Rong (Lingzi Qu) second from the right. No idea if it's historically accurate to have a woman openly wearing a sword, but she's got the swagger for it.

Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi or Lingzi, 灵芝), is used in traditional Chinese medicine. For me, it is always related to the romantic story, The Legend of White Snake (白蛇传), about how a woman saves her lover. So I am always delighted at seeing them in the forest.

13 years ago, Krystle Campbell, Lu Lingzi, Officer Sean Collier and Officer Dennis Simmonds didn’t come home.

Their memories and life stories have stayed with me since that horrific day several bombs went off at the Boston Marathon that triggered a week of fear.
