Nagoya is *great* for travellers: fantastic local food, many hotel choices, fun trains to ride (and the Linimo mini maglev), Ghibli Park, the excellent railway museum, the Tokugawa Garden, a good replica castle/museum, and fantastic day trips like Inuyama with its rare original castle.

Part of me *knows* that Nagoya's Linimo — the mini-maglev peoplemover built basically as a tech demonstrator for the 2005 Expo — is a gadgetbahn.
More of me doesn't care, because it's genuinely really cool, has great views, and the cornering is bonkers.

The use case for maglev is difficult to make. Conventional rail is outstandingly efficient, and can be made quiet and smooth (quieter, apparently, than the TransRapid design). The track is a tiny fraction of the cost. Maglev works well for medium speed, like the autonomous Aichi Linimo.
