One thing I love about my chosen industry is there are a lot of lazy stealing thieving fucks out there with absolutely no respect or regard for their fellow reporters doing the same job as them. All it takes is a linkout or a credit to make it right. And yet.
the ease with which people jack footage we got via foia or a leak or reporting and call it their exclusive footage weeks or months later - staggering

I admin a very small FB news/politics group that gets about 10-20 linkout posts a day. We don't allow fringe stuff. Maybe once every 3 months we get "content removed" for inexplicable reasons. I usually appeal, and a week or so later it's reversed. It's more common than I think most people realize.

The "free full text" filter, for anyone who is employed by an institution with a library. You're better off using your library's LinkOut UR.

I'd love if this came back - I was just thinking last night about making a linkout section for my own site, and how the list would be pretty short now b/c only a handful of friends even have their own sites! Would love to see personal art sites make comeback, with flourishing webrings/link exchanges

Most of the attention I received on LinkedIn was from competitors, asking me to "introduce" them to my clients. I had to LinkOut.

This work takes me back to a reason I chose the Wieschaus lab for a postdoc--the movie of gastrulating embryos he was already making using parking lot surveillance cameras. Sue Zusman was one of those in the lab at the time and she went on to Richard Hynes lab
