I think you're describing science, IMO. Everything is atop a foundation of basic research. An example: at a previous company, I worked on a series of small-molecule inhibitors of Hormone-Sensitive Lipase, a possible target for Type II diabetes and related conditions. (1/10)

Apparently part of Tide’s superior lore is that it contains a decent concentration of lipase, which is an enzyme that’s excellent at breaking down the sebum that transfers from our skin to clothing. A lot of detergents straight up do not contain lipase or only have a very small, inadequate amount.
