How to Fix a Verified Business Listing With Wrong Info. Verified does not mean correct, and the gap between those two words is where customers get lost. A verified or claimed badge answers one question: who controls this listing. Somebody confirmed that, once, at setup. It does not answer whether the phone number, the hours, the address, or the website on the listing are still right. Those change afterward, and nothing re-checks them. The drift is ordinary. A phone number changes and the listing keeps the old one. Seasonal hours arrive, Saturday gets shorter, and the listing still shows the old schedule. The business moves and the old address sits on the verified listing. The person who set everything up leaves, and can still sign in. Nobody did anything wrong here. Claiming and confirming the listing was the correct move. But the question the badge settles is not the question the customer brings to it. The customer reads it as a promise that the details are right, dials the number, and gets nothing, on the listing that looks the most official. There is a second twist: the claimed listings get opened least. Verified feels handled, so the attention goes to the unclaimed ones, while the listings carrying the badge sit unread. Four checks, no tools required: 1. Write down each listing your business has claimed or verified. 2. Open every one of them and hold the phone, the hours, the address, and the website up against what is true right now. 3. Review who can still get into each account, and take off anyone who has moved on. 4. Pick a day to run the same pass again and put it on the calendar. Verification was worth doing. It just is not the same job as keeping the details true.

"Live" means the directory accepted it. Findable is different. Its own search can still skip it.

Search the directory for your category and your town, the way a customer would, and see how far down the entry actually sits.
