The group were founded in 1969 in order to promote archaeological research in the Maidstone area, co-ordinate archaeological research and to publish the results of such research.

Orpington and District Archaeological Society (ODAS) is a local volunteer group based at Scadbury Park, founded in 1975 by enthusiasts involved in excavating sites like the Roman Bath House in St. Mary Cray. www.odas.org.uk
