The author Evan Dicken grew up with Ursula K LeGuin and has already published multiple wuxia ninja omyoji samurai novels set in the Age of Sigmar and Legend of the Five Rings worlds.

So Warhammer Fantasy Cathay is in experienced hands that have written characters from high-context cultures well.
Goonhammer Reviews: Shade of Khaine, by Evan Dicken by Jay "Lorehunter" Kirkman | Sep 05 2025 Getting By with a Little Help from Her Friends Malaneth may by the main character of the story, but hers is a tale very much enriched by the supporting cast Dicken weaves for her. From Splendid the Ogor to anarchist trapmaker Stromund Goldless, voice-in-her-head Mistress Sybelline to friend-turned-enemy-turned-friend Xarissa the Shadowstalker, she has no lack of company along the way. Splendid was an interesting contrast deserving of a mention, a brute savage of a gourmand who was amiable and charming (as Ogors go). While I enjoyed how he was written, he didn't quite capture the same element of other-ness that Adrian Tchaikovsky did so masterfully with On the Shoulders of Giants (review here). Splendid is a character who happens to be an Ogor, while Tchaikovsky's Slobda felt more like an Ogor character. When Tchaikovsky's very human lead character notes that his Ogor companion was "a child of a different god entirely," you feel that in a way I didn't really pick up on in Shade of Khaine. There's one more steady companion who has a significant impact on Malaneth, yet never actually appears in the novel. As Dicken reveals in an early passage, Malaneth still dreamt of Gotrek Gurnisson. The Slayer hung like a stone around her neck, dragging her into a sea of shouting violence, rune glittering, his axe as bloody as any Khainite altar. He cleaved her memory like a blade. There was a time before she had met Gotrek... sure of her purpose, her duty, herself. Then, she had been set upon that damnable Slayer and everything had stopped making sense. Archmage Evan Dicken 3.46 24 ratings2 reviews A Broken Realms short story Living among a profoundly magical society while having no arcane aptitude can be tough, doubly so for one of the proud Lumineth aelves. The dark sorcerer Iuchiban has escaped his tomb, and desires dominion over all. Unicorn samurai Iuchi Qadan has been welcomed home and celebrated for her part in destroying the Blood- speaker rebellion. Yet she is not herself… Possessed by Iuchiban, Qadan can do nothing but watch as the undying sorcerer lord draws tight the noose he has wrapped around the throat of an unsuspecting empire. And hope that someone will realize she is not who she seems. But the other survivors of Iuchiban’s tomb are few, and made speechless by the horrors they’ve endured. To stop Iuchiban’s evil, new alliances between old enemies must be formed. They will be brittle, untested, and marred by mistrust. Should these alliances fail, there will be no Rokugan.

Yay based on cn patch notes its an iberia/seaborne storyline for halloween. Which means the limited banner in november is likely the main story chapter 18. Does this mean a neo-reunion limited banner on the horizon? Or some more elite Rhodes operators?

Played and recorded the 3 part typhoeus narrative event which is literally just the entire 1.5 snowy forest main zone quest. Very fun quest with some comedy some horror and many throwbacks to OG arknights with Sami and Amma.

I love the idea of him focused on knowledge, still holding onto an imagined past that he only knows through stories and lore. Give me Lorehunter Zul'jan! Bring back Archeology and let him give me weird troll archeology quests, or something!!! I just never actually saw that character!
