I don't need a lounge on every trip. But when I buy business class, I want the choice to use it.
After spending thousands on the ticket, I don't want to be told that the nicest part of Delta One is for a different kind of Delta One passenger.

There are better ways to price business class. Charge more for a refundable ticket or a better suite. Offer paid upgrades close to departure if seats are empty. If the lounge is crowded, limit guests or very early entry.

I'd understand a real seat-only fare. Tell me I'm buying the flat bed and not much else, and make it a lot cheaper. That's a clear trade.
A ticket that still costs thousands, with the lounge removed to create an upsell, feels like a worse luxury product.

If I'm paying $4,000 for Delta One, I'm kind of offended by the idea of paying another $200 for the fare that includes the lounge. I know that fare buys more than lounge access, but the lounge is the part I actually care about.

Delta's Basic Business keeps the same bed and onboard service. But for travel after Jan. 18, 2027, the fare won't include Delta One Lounge access. To get in through your ticket, you'll need Classic or Extra.

The lounge is honestly better than what Delta does on the plane. I can eat a great meal, have a drink, and settle in before boarding. It's one of the few parts of flying I still get excited about.
