This one is a bit different because the MLs aren’t in the reality show together, but rather one is in the show and the other is the scriptwriter for the reality show. #LoveAlgorithm

Could be but apparently the director and actors are in fact Malaysian. So I’m still plumping for it being a Malaysian production rather than aC-BL. #LoveAlgorithm
But most of the actors and the director are from Malaysia.. i thought that‘s why it isn‘t listed on mdl. Is it produced in Taiwan? IMDB says Malaysia, too.. (I read your postings but ignored the show because I thought it‘s a remake. What a mistake!)

But my instinct is that this isn’t a Malaysian beard situation. The setting isn’t Chinese and the vibes are wrong for that. It’s also very demure, really, especially for a C-BL. #LoveAlgorithm

It’s set in a reality “find your love” TV show, so there’s the fake scripted in-front-of-the-cameras action, the real off-camera stuff, plus flashbacks to when the MLs were young together. These are the three layers but also part of reality (past and present) is woven into the script. #LoveAlgorithm

OK OK. Now it really is the final ep of #LoveAlgorithm. I enjoyed it. It’s v short, so best to watch all in one go. Also, because the story is filmed in a dreamlike way with multiple layers of “reality”, it feels at times like interconnected vignettes. Do watch to celebrate Malaysia’s first ever BL!
I finally got around to watching the rest of #LoveAlgorithm today. It’s very short but they edited it well so you still get a vibes-based sketch of a drama even if there’s not time to flesh it all out. But as Malaysia’s first ever BL (I think!), do support it and give it a watch. I enjoyed it!

#LoveAlgorithm

It’s got this really interesting sort of dreamlike quality. Which I think is enhanced by (or plays into) the mix between the past and the present, and the present reality vs the scripted “false” present of the reality show. #LoveAlgorithm

It really DOES look, sound, feel extremely Taiwanese, right? I was totally convinced it was. Glad I’m not the only one who got confused by this! #LoveAlgorithm

I spent much of the time convinced #LoveAlgorithm was actually a Taiwanese show because I swear that’s what the Mandarin sounds like to my ear. The whole feel of it screams Taiwan to me. But no. It’s actually Malaysian. So go forth and support their nascent BL industry. (You can watch on WeTV.)

Made the mistake of starting with #LoveAlgorithm, even though everyone posted that it would be smarter to wait + watch the series all at once. Now I can‘t stop, watched ep. 7 today and damn, I forgot how deep that shit‘s hurting. 😅 yeah, all of you, stay clever + wait with watching until it‘s over!

Oh, no, thank you for the clarification! I appreciate it. I like to understand properly what’s going on. #LoveAlgorithm is a nice production and there’s good chemistry. I honestly just wish the runtime was longer. I know others have it on their radar and will be watching once it’s complete.

Oh, maybe I’m the one who’s mistaken then. I certainly thought it was Taiwanese. (I thought their Mandarin sounded Taiwanese. And since all mainland C-BLs have to be offshored somewhere, I thought this one was some sort of hybrid Malaysian/Chinese/Taiwanese.) My bad! #LoveAlgorithm

I’ve been watching #LoveAlgorithm - and have mentioned it a few times on here. It’s a Taiwanese show but not listed under that so it doesn’t appear in MDL. The issue for many (myself included) is that the eps are soooo short that it’s painful to watch week to week. We’re all waiting for the finale.

How could I have slept on this? Because it‘s a malaysian show (flagged under Thailand or Taiwan, I think?) it‘s not on mdl and when I heard about it, I thought it‘s something like a remake of „My dating sim“. It‘s not.
The episodes are short but I like the vibes. It‘s airing on WeTV.

I agree with both sentiments. I’ll probably stop watching week to week now and wait for the whole thing at the end. But it’s a shame because this way there’s no buzz or chatter about it. #LoveAlgorithm

Speaking of Taiwanese BL shows, is anyone other than me watching #LoveAlgorithm? Or are you all waiting for it to end because the weekly episodes are so short?

Although the #LoveAlgorithm episodes are so short that I’d probably advise most people to wait until it’s ending and then watch the whole thing in one go.
