Lukla airport is wild and since its opening in 1971 there have been > 50 fatal aircraft accidents.
It's up at 2.8km ASL, the runway is about 530m long (only!) and inclined at about 12-deg. Weather is very unpredictable....
However, it's the gateway to Everest .... 🏔️

When you leave, you see the plane heading for the cliff edge and just hope you've got enough speed behind you to lift off.
I'm never really a nervous flyer, but when we landed and took off from Lukla, I really was shitting myself. Only time I've ever felt like that.
